Ever since the new coronavirus that causes the potentially fatal Covid-19 emerged from Wuhan city in China there has been cascading shutdowns around the world and sport is no exception. The Magoebaskloof MTB Challenge is loved by both locals and mtb riders across the province. It features some of the most beautiful trails in South-Africa and is definitely a highlight of the year.
Now that the World Health Organization has declared the spread a pandemic – meaning it has spread across the globe – and the number infections in South-Africa has risen rapidly – cancellations of events have come in rapid succession.
Unfortunately the 2020 Magoebaskloof MTB Challenge is one of them, and Tzaneen’s cycling committee has taken every aspect of the riders safety in consideration, and deemed it unsafe to continue. It’s with great disappointment that we have decided to cancel the 2020 race, but will make sure that the 2021 race will be one not to be missed!
We do hope that you guys understand and will #staysafe
